THURSDAY NIGHT MIXED LEAGUE UPDATE
In response to requests by our Curlers for the Club to work towards a more inclusive and fun Thursday Night Mixed League the Coordinators have made the decision to move to a new format effective the Second Half. This new format consists of less league teams with more Curlers on each team. This allows us to move back to only one draw time (7:30pm) with the exception of our first night which will commence at 7:00pm to provide time to review the new format and ask questions. We encourage both our new and long time Curlers to keep an open mind as we truly believe this will only add to the comradery of our Mixed League!
For the updated schedule please refer to the Thursday Night Mixed League Information link found which can be accessed via the MEMBERSHIP PAGE or contact one of the League Coordinators (Maralee Drake/Ron Hodgson) directly.
JUNIOR PROGRAMMING UPDATE
To all the families that have children registered in the Junior Program and supported the Club through the first half of the season, we will be continuing with the current time schedule. This means, the sessions will continue to run Sunday mornings
between ending Sunday, March 04, 2018.
This program is a developmental program focusing on skill development and
having fun. Curlers will learn about the game of curling, develop their skills, learn teamwork and leadership skills as well as developing friendships with other young curlers. At the conclusion of our season, there will be an Awards Banquet that
will include prizes along with other various themed events throughout the season.
Please note that there will no Junior Programming on Sunday, December 03
due to a scheduled power outage!
TIMBITS CURLING PROGRAM
Returning for another season, this annual program invites grade 7 and 8 students to participate in a free one-day curling instruction program. Beaverton Curling Club members will provide instruction, additional supervision and assist with curling
games in three-90 minute sessions for each visiting school group.
The program is intended to compliment the Ontario Physical Education and Health Curriculum and provide opportunities for local students to participate in an active local cultural activity. Secured funding has allowed us to pay for the transportation to and from each participating school along with providing lunch and snacks.

ADULT CLINICS UPDATE
Numerous clinics were held throughout October and November which provided
our new and future adult curlers aged 19 and over with the fundamentals of curling. Participants learned various skills including curling etiquette, sliding out of the
hack, throwing stones, sweeping and how to throw with a stick to name a few.
The Club Executive, Management and the Clinic Volunteers would like to
thank those who came out!
With the popularity and success of these clinics we are looking at future
offerings sometime in the New Year. Come back often to visit our website for
updates on this helpful and fun programming!

the great things happening at the Club by following us of Facebook @TheBeavertonCurlingClub.
